Hatha Yoga is a physical discipline based on based on a series of postures (asanas), designed to develop flexibility, strength and overall body awareness and health. It is one of the 8 arms of classical Yoga practice developed in ancient India and described by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras, written about 200 BC.

'DevaMoves' Hatha Yoga is based on the techniques brought to North America by B.K.S. Iyengar, a renowned Indian Hatha Yogi who founded his first North American Center in California in the late 1960's.

Hatha Yoga balances the body's strength and flexibility, increases circulation, and stimulates the nervous and hormonal systems.  It can retard and reverse the impact of the aging process on joint mobility and posture.  The increased freedom in the hips and shoulders joints often produces a more youthful stance and movement. Hatha Yoga systematically develops the mind/body link and promotes a greater ability to focus the mind and direct energy to where it is most needed.

People of all levels of fitness and health can benefit, since the postures and practice can be tailored to address individual needs.

'DevaMoves' Hatha Yoga offers specialized, custom programs designed for amateur and professional athletes in specific sports: equestrian (dressage, jumping, eventing), golf, running and racket sports, with postures geared to increasing focus, ease of motion and relaxation in the specific sport.
